Food Bank & Cafe

Holbeach Community Larder opened for it’s first session in Holbeach Reading Rooms, courtesy of the William Snarey Trust, on Friday 6th September 2013 following a series of open meetings. It began as a satellite of AgapeCare food bank in Spalding but became independent in June 2014.

Sessions run every Friday from 11.00 am – 2.00 pm. During that time clients who have obtained vouchers from our referral partners can receive food parcels, or, following a short interview, we can issue vouchers on site.

Between 12.00-1.00 pm we also offer a free 2 course meal and often serve between 40-50 people each session. Many of our clients give a donation of what they can afford for these meals and most of our vegetables are kindly donated by the fruit and veg stall on Holbeach Market.

Appeal for Supplies

August 2017

We are running low of the following foodbank items and there is another 6 weeks to go before harvest donations come in. Any of the following would be appreciated. Cereals, Noodles, Rice, UHT milk, squash, sandwich paste, tinned ham, tinned sponge puddings, sugar, jams, pasta sauces and biscuits. There is a collection point at the back of the Church or items can be taken direct to the Food Bank on Friday when it is open between 11:00am to 2:00pm.

 


Support & Volunteers

We are supported by all the local schools and churches and many of our local businesses, including TESCO and Marks and Spencer.

We have a wonderful team of volunteers from all walks of life who fulfill the following roles.

Cooks
Kitchen assistants
Setting up the cafe
Serving at table
Receiving and storing donated foodstuffs
Making up food parcels
Foodbank Reception
Administration
Fund-raising
Staffing appeals for food
Donating foodstuffs
