Holbeach Community Flower Festival 2018

3rd to 7th May 2018

‘Musicals’ was the theme for our 2018 Community Flower Festival, reaching its 5th successive year, we basked in sunshine and record temperatures for the 5 days of the Festival. There were brilliantly thought out and spectacular themed floral displays in Church as well as many outdoor activities and events over the Bank Holiday weekend. Wonderful to see so many people over the 5 days, supporting the many stall holders and charities taking part. There was plenty of delicious fresh food available; tempting cakes and treats as well as a very popular BBQ. We were treated to three live performances of ‘Songs from the Musicals’ by Helen Verney, a dance display, and very popular dog show. Not to forget the ever popular Teddy Bears parachuting from the tower, all rounded off by a performance from the Holbeach Town Band on Monday afternoon.

(Update – We raised  £3,200 in total which will help greatly towards running the Church)

Rosamund writes…
I just want to thank everyone who made the Flower Festival weekend such a brilliant event, including, of course, God, for the wonderful weather!

Particular thanks to Stephen Mark Johnson for all his work with the stalls and the entertainment and for his happy, smiley presence from the crack of dawn to the close of play each day; to Christine Penney for marshalling all the flower arrangers and doing so many of them herself as well as mucking-in in the kitchen when needed; to all the catering team, chefs and bottle washers who kept the kitchen running and the BBQ firing; and of course to all the individuals and community groups who came and contributed their fabulous arrangements.

We will let you know in due course how much money was raised, but it has been very gratifying also to hear how much was raised for many of the other charities who had stalls over the weekend,  thank you to all. I think everyone is agreed that it was a truly fabulous community weekend. I wonder what our theme ought to be in 2019?
