Revd Sherine Angus

Sherine was born in Northampton and moved to rural Herefordshire at the age of 8, growing up in a small village on the Welsh border. Upon leaving secondary education she went to university and trained as a paediatric nurse in Oxford. Sherine specialised in the care of children with cancer and her work as a nurse and ward sister, took her to London, Cornwall, Bristol and Bath. In 2002 Sherine trained as a health visitor and she worked in the community as a health visitor and team leader until her ordination in 2019.

It was whilst working in London that Sherine met her husband Mike, and they married in 2000. They began married life in Bath where Mike was a verger at Bath Abbey and later moved to Wells Cathedral. They have three children: Sam, who is studying Bioscience at Durham University, Toby, who is studying for his A levels and Connie, in the last year of primary school. The family moved to Lincolnshire in 2007 and have lived in Boston and Alford. Mike is now a secondary school teacher of Religious Studies and History.

Sherine’s faith grew out of her work as a nurse and health visitor, after 23 years in the NHS it came as quite a surprise to feel called to ordained ministry in 2015. Sherine completed her training at St Hild College in Sheffield. Her curacy has been in the Alford Group of Parishes where she has particularly enjoyed the variety and challenge of rural and market town ministry. During this time she has worked closely with the local schools and developed a Forest Church enabling people to encounter God through creation, amongst other mission-focused initiatives.

Sherine has a passion for working with local communities and social justice.

Other interests include walking the family’s dogs on the beach, cooking for family and friends and creative pastimes such as knitting and dressmaking.
