Christmas 2017 Services
Christingle Service – 4:00 pm Sunday 3rd December (U)
A popular 40-minute service to mark the beginning of Advent as we look to the birth of Christ. Everyone who attends will be given a Christingle making kit so that they can make their own Christingle during the service. The climax of the service is when we form a circle of lit Christingles round the church and turn down the lights and invite the children to sing ‘Away in a manger’ – pure magic. Donations given at this service support the work of The Children’s Society. At this service, we will also be sending our new papier mache Crib Figures on their Journey to Bethlehem in time for Christmas Day!
Deanery Advent Carol Service – 6:30 pm Sunday 3rd December (PG)
A service of Advent Carols, Readings, anthems and candles to prepare us for the great drama of Christmas. We will be joined at this service by other churches in the deanery and the choir will be augmented by extra singers.
Carols by Candlelight – 6:30 pm Sunday 17th December (PG)
A traditional candlelit service with readings, congregational carols and the choir. Followed by mince pies and spiced apple punch.
Carols around the Tree – 6:00 pm Wednesday 20th Dec (U)
Carol singing with Holbeach Town Band around the Christmas Tree in the churchyard. Bring a lantern if you have one. This is a service shared by all the churches in Holbeach and is particularly suitable for families.
Crib Service – 4:00 pm Christmas Eve (U)
A 40-minute service suitable for the whole family, from toddlers to great-grannies, in which we share the Christmas Story, sing some carols and our new papier mache Crib figures will finally make it to Bethlehem (in the North porch). Ideal for occupying overexcited children and filling in that bit of time before tea and an early night.
Please bring a torch with you to this Service; one per person if you have enough.
Midnight Mass – 11:30 pm Christmas Eve (12a)
Traditional Communion service with carols, a sermon and Holy Communion.
Christmas Family Communion – 10:30 am Christmas Day (PG)
A shortened Christmas Communion Service with carols. Children are invited to bring a present to show.
We hope that your encounter with God & the Christ Child at this holy time will inspire you to explore your faith further. Our Ministry team are always available to help in an unpressured, friendly and welcoming way.
