Music & Choir
Hector Berlioz said “Music is the very soul of a great church”. Here in Holbeach we are entirely in sympathy with this statement, and take our music very seriously in the context of enhancing worship in a variety of styles.
Director of Music
Our Director of Music position is currently vacant, please click on the link below for application details:
The Choir
All Saints’ has a mixed voice choir of boys, girls, men and women.
The choir helps to lead our worship at the 10.30 am. Eucharist and the 6.30 pm. Evensong every Sunday, and also sings for special services including Deanery and Civic events, and for weddings on request.
The Choir is affiliated to the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM), and participates in the Diocesan RSCM Area Festival in October.
Members of the Choir are encouraged to work towards the RSCM Training Scheme (Dean’s and Bishop’s awards), and occasionally, the St.Cecilia award.
Joining the Choir
Membership of the Choir is open to anyone who enjoys singing, although some ability to read music is desirable, especially for potential alto, tenor and bass voices.
Choir practices are on Friday evenings from 7.15-8.30 pm, and Sundays at 5.30-6.15 pm prior to Deanery Evensong at 6.30 pm. Junior Choir meets from 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm on a Friday evening.
If you would like to join the Choir, please email: choir@allsaintsholbeach.org.uk
Choral Scholarships
A limited number of scholarships are available in all voice parts for young people between the ages of 13 and 18. These are awarded by audition, and successful applicants will be required to sing at our morning and evening services during term time, in addition to the major festivals of Christmas and Easter. They will receive free tuition in preparation for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) Graded singing exams from the Director of Music who is an Examiner for ABRSM.
Our Repertoire
The choir sing a wide range of anthems chosen from the standard English cathedral repertoire, including music from the 16th to 21st centuries. We also sing psalms and different settings for the canticles at Evensong.
The Band
We also have an all-age instrumental group, supported by keyboard and drums, which leads more modern styles of music at our All-Age Worship service on the first Sunday of the month. If you play a musical instrument to a minimum of Grade 3 standard (ABRSM), and would like to join the band, or would like to sing with them please contact
